Design and Build Quality

The NordicTrack T 6.5 S and Horizon Fitness T101 both have a running area of 20″ x 55″, which is suitable for walkers and joggers with shorter strides. They both have a 10% motorized incline and a maximum weight capacity of 300 lbs. The T 6.5 S has a slightly more powerful motor at 2.6 CHP, on paper, compared to the T101’s 2.5 CHP motor, but I did not feel any difference – as expected -, during my tests.

Both treadmills have a sturdy steel frame and a durable running platform. The T 6.5 S features FlexSelect cushioning that can be turned on or off, providing more comfort and reducing joint impact. On the other hand, the T101’s frame feels stable and solid, there is minimal movement in the console even when running at high speeds. It feels like a premium model in terms of stability.

Console Features and Technology

The NordicTrack T 6.5 S has a more straightforward console with a monocolor 5-inch LCD screen, while the Horizon Fitness T101 features three blue LED windows for displaying workout metrics. The T 6.5 S offers 20 built-in programs and is compatible with iFit, providing additional training options. The T101 has only 5 built-in programs and no training apps. If you want a Horizon treadmill with app connectivity you must check their AT series such as 7.0 AT.

Both treadmills have a tablet holder, speakers, and a heart rate monitor. The T 6.5 S uses a Dual CardioGrip Heart Rate Monitor, while the T101 uses EKG Contact Grips. They are accurate enough. The T101 has a cooling fan and Bluetooth audio, these features are not available on the T 6.5 S. But as a quick note, although the T101’s speakers are Bluetooth-enabled, they are not as powerful as the T 6.5 S’s speakers.

Ease of Use and Noise

The NordicTrack T 6.5 S is known for its ease of use, with a streamlined console and 20 onboard programs that do not require WiFi. It is foldable with hydraulic assist release, making it easy to store when not in use.
